Today, however, efforts are turning towards modern, systematic winemaking, with the journey into Naxos’ new wine era beginning at Terra Grazia Estate. Here, not only is there an effort to scientifically revive old grape varieties, but the island’s only winery, for the time being, is also in operation. With internationally award-winning Assyrtiko and Fokiano wines, set within a true “Garden of Eden” in Kato Sagri, in the shadow of the impressive family Venetian tower and beside its privately owned vineyards, the winery invites us to connect through wine. To experience the gifts of Naxian soil in a different way, by taking part in the wine-tasting experiences organised by the dedicated and visionary Ms Angeliki Gratzia.
